WHAT IT SAYS
FOR or AGAINST: “Constitutional amendment to strengthen protections for victims of crime, to establish certain, absolute basic rights for victims, and to ensure the enforcement of these rights."
WHAT WILL IT DO?
This amendment, also known as Marsy’s Law, includes a slate of provisions delineating the rights of people who are victims of crimes. Many of these provisions already exist under current NC laws. There is a project in the amendment with a projected cost of $30M annually and was marked confidential. It was forbidden from discussion during the reading. The legislature has not said how this would be funded.
