SOIL & WATER
CONSERVATION SUPERVISOR
POWER OF THE OFFICE
The Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) is a local government organization that advocates, educates and implements voluntary conservation best management practices for landowners including farmers, homeowner associations, and other public and private entities. The SWCD administers a multitude of urban agricultural cost share programs that remediate severe soil erosion and water quality and quantity issues. The SWCD works with conservation engineers to orchestrate engineering and management resources that scope and execute the required remediation. They work closely with landowners to ensure that the conservation practices continue after the project is completed. The Board also conducts annual Envirothon, a conservation themed contests for local schools that then qualify to compete in at the state and national Envirothon tournaments.
